Free ‘Stay At Home History’ resources launched by Heritage Unlocked
A range of free to access heritage and history resources including newly released publications, podcasts and lectures are to be made freely available as part of a new ‘Stay At Home History’ #StayAtHomeHistory initiative by consultancy Heritage Unlocked.
The #StayAtHomeHistory initiative responds to guidance issued by Mind on the coronavirus and well-being and hopes to support wider community in self-isolation and social distancing by providing heritage and history resources to help relaxation and keep minds stimulated. Heritage Unlocked will make a range of publications, podcasts, talks and other sources freely available through their website a time when libraries, museums and shops are closed.
Heritage Unlocked’s Dr Tosh Warwick said: “The coronavirus has brought the temporary closure of venues such as archives, community hubs, libraries and museums that provide history and heritage resources to promote education, tackle isolation and enhance well-being for a wide range of people, including some of society’s most vulnerable.
“By working with a range of our heritage partners, in the coming weeks and months we will make a range of publications, podcasts, talks and other resources freely available to make history more accessible at this difficult time.”
The first publication to be made available as part of the initiative is Memories of Mannion - South Bank’s ‘Golden Boy’ by Dr Tosh Warwick in partnership with Black Path Press. Supported by MIMA and Manchester Metropolitan University, the publication brings together a range of community memories in celebrating football legend Wilf Mannion.
